The School Dining System was developed from a series of workshops attended by school foodservice professionals and technology specialists. Built from the ground up for speed and ease of use, we believe we have found the perfect balance between simplicity, price and performance.

The School Dining System has three main components. A point of sale (POS) program that runs in the cafeterias. A parental portal for families to check balances and access information about their children's eating habits, and an administrative portal for you.

The POS system supports touch screen monitors and is loaded with capabilities yet because we designed the interface with simplicity in mind, the average operator can run a POS with less than 10 minutes of training.

The parental portal helps reduce the number of phone calls fielded by your office each day by allowing parents to sign on, 24 hours a day, to review activity and even add more money to their child's lunch account. The same portal also generates daily low balance emails based on levels you set for each student status (free, reduced and full price)

The administrative portal allows complete control over all POS systems across the district, whether you are at home or at work. Forget to update a price on a breakfast item before you left the office for the weekend? No problem. Just log on from home over the weekend, update the price, and it will be seen at all POS systems when the first students come through the line early on Monday morning.

Uptime is very important to anyone trying to manage large volumes of transactions in the space of just an hour or two a day. POS systems perform in two modes; networked (Central), so that each system can share information across lunchrooms, and standalone (Local) for schools that are not connected, or lose connectivity without warning. (If the network goes down for a location running in Central mode, the POS systems failover to local and transactions are stored for batch upload at a later time).

Getting information out of the School Dining System is very straightforward. You can define and save a variety of reports including all the required reporting states require as part of the federal free lunch program.
