"I am very pleased with the IS USA POS system. The training was great and the staff is always ready and willing to help correct or update anything that we ask of them. I am still amazed at the capabilities of this POS system as far as tracking the students and their status and deposits and spending etc. This system has provided immeasurable help to me with all the reports I need to complete for my job. It's fast, it's accurate, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread."

We know what life is like for a school Technology person. If it beeps, buzzes or clicks, you're responsible for it. If you're fortunate, you may have a small staff to help you manage some of the daily maintenance needed to keep school systems operational. In some cases, that's only possible when you're not teaching a class.

The last thing we want to do is add to your workload. So here are the facts, in a nutshell.

SDS requires a working connection to the Internet.
SDS may require inter-building connectivity. If the connectivity extends into the cafeteria, all POS systems can run "live" (Central Mode). If it does not, POS systems can run isolated (Local Mode) and send data up after lunch. All POS systems can run in Local Mode if there is ever a network failure.
SDS may require a dedicated server - depending on your school size and configuration options. If a server is required, you'd be responsible for making sure it gets backed up and has current anti-virus and Windows updates installed.
When running SDS on a dedicated server, we take care of almost all SDS functionality by Remote Desktop including initial installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting and updates. You may be asked to load photos on the server at the start of the school year. In some cases, you may be asked to assist in setting up a data bridge between SDS and your school's SIS.
The initial install may require some firewall configuration on your part.

In most cases, once initial deployment is complete, SDS requires very little ongoing support from a school technology department. That's great news for technology staff already overwhelmed by the daily demands of the job.

Usually, the only time IT needs to be involved is in the event of a hardware failure at a POS or a network connectivity issue between a POS and the SDS Server.
