Ultimately, parents view themselves as
customers of the school. Providing them with access and great service is
becoming more and more important in today's environment.

With the School Dining System, parents can now see exactly what their
children are eating. The system offers the flexibility within each
district of establishing separate accounts for each student, or a single
family account. Some districts run a hybrid of the two. This means, for
some families, the end of sending a separate check to school with each
child.
If you decide to allow parents to set
breakfast and a la carte blocks and spending limits per meal, they can
perform these functions on the parental portal. If you prefer not to offer
these choices to your parents, the features remain hidden from view.

Coupled with an online
payment processing system such as PaySchools or RevTrak, SDS allows
parents to add money to their lunch account quickly and conveniently from
home. Because SDS can accept PRN (Payment Received Notification) signals
from PaySchools, parents who use that system for online payments will see
balances update on SDS usually within 30 seconds of hitting submit.
This means that a parent could make a
deposit online just minutes before their student arrives at a cafeteria.
If the cafeteria POS is running live on the network (Central mode) then
the payment is already in the account when the student arrives!

The SDS parental portal reduces the
number of phone calls you have to field each day. It gives families 24/7
access to their lunch account information, proactively notifies
parents of low balances based on thresholds that you set for each student
status level, and allows families to add money on line.
