At Information Services USA, we have been
working with school technology for years. Our company has a full time team
of network engineers who routinely work with local schools to install and
maintain servers, switches, routers and firewalls. Our work with those
schools from an engineering standpoint gives us a unique opportunity to
understand how schools work, and design software products that perform.

With the School Dining System, you have the flexibility to use existing
hardware for your POS systems. Built lean and clean, the Microsoft Windows
POS will install and run well even on systems that are three or four years
old. Our pricing model allows you to deploy as many POS systems as you
wish across the district at no cost. If you have used computers in your
school, you can deploy them as cafeteria POS systems. If you have money in
the budget for new machines, we can offer great pricing on complete
solutions.
The POS system supports touch screen
monitors and is loaded with capabilities yet because we designed the
interface with simplicity in mind, the average operator can run a POS with
less than 10 minutes of training.

Each POS system must be at least a Pentium
II class machine with 256MB Ram and 100MB free hard disk space. Operating
systems supported are Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro. The PC must have a
way to access the school network either via Ethernet or WiFi. Connectivity
during the actual serving of lunch is optional and the need for constant
connectivity depends on your configuration.

We strongly recommend the use of touch
screen monitors in any cafeteria. The more items available for purchase,
the more important this becomes. Touch screen monitors are affordable, and
significantly increase processing during those busy lunch rushes. We also
highly recommend a bar code reader for your POS systems. This reader can
scan bar-coded student ID cards quickly and eliminate operator error. The
same reader can also be used to scan a la carte items such as beverages,
chips and snacks.
